About Us

Peter Schroeder

Co-agent at Rising Star Management

I was recruited by RISING STAR MANAGEMENT in 2015, primarily because of my connections in the music industry. When the talent that I recruited quickly received auditions, callbacks, and started "booking" projects, I was asked to consider becoming a full agent. I accepted, continued training, and joined the ranks.

My professional experience spans consulting, sales and marketing, visual and audio media creation, and production and performance in the music industry. I live in North Vancouver, BC, and manage RSM's North Shore office. During my journey, I have had the privilege of mentoring and managing many talented and successful individuals in music and film and TV.

I love my role at Rising Star Management; it's a great fit for my personality. I enjoy connecting with people, helping them to find commercial value in their varied skills, and assisting in making their on-screen dreams come true. For me, meeting deadlines, scouting talent, staying organized, and being "driven" are all part of the excitement of being a Co-Agent at RSM. My goal is to represent Vancouver's best talent and enable them to use their skills and talent in increasingly valuable and rewarding ways.

As a professional, husband, and father of two, I bring resiliency, commitment, fierce loyalty, and an acceptable amount of sacrifice, necessary to thrive in this competitive industry.

We are so fortunate to live in Vancouver, where there are so many unique opportunities in the booming Film & Television Industry.

Peter has been a proud partner with Kumi Kimura, owner of Rising Star Management, since 2015.

Kumi Kimura

Owner/Agent

Kumi is well respected in the film and television industry, in Vancouver, LA, and abroad. She began her film career as an actor, and she knows what it takes to succeed in the competitive film and television industry. From submitting to booking roles, Kumi has experience on both sides of the industry.

Early in her career, while still acting in feature films and commercials, Kumi began scouting and assisting a local agent. She quickly rose to become an agent herself, opened her own agency, and began managing on-screen actors into current-day celebrities. In her career, Kumi has built genuine, long-lasting relationships with many prominent industry professionals, has achieved respect in the industry, and has catapulted her talent to the highest heights.

If you are not represented and would like to be considered for the Rising Star Management roster... simply email a Headshot (iPhone photo is fine), your name, age, and tell me a bit about yourself to:

Or use the contact form on this webpage, below. I look forward to your email. Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Peter Schroeder | North Vancouver, BC

RESOURCES

Casting directors are always looking to cast great actors, special skills talent, and 'real people' of all ages – musicians, dancers, athletes, teams, special abilities, business people, models, and much more. They are on your side; they want you to book the role. Vancouver casting directors, agents, and talent look good in the eyes of their clients when they book great talent. We all win!

There is no magic formula… the one universal theme to success in acting is: be the best “YOU” possible. There's only one of you, and casting is looking for YOU!

The best ways to do this are: stay updated on the local Film and TV industry, hone your skills, be proactive in getting work yourself, build a demo reel, identify trends, know the lingo, get educated (classes), train (by way of an acting coach), do your homework, and get experience to help you prepare/improve your auditions. Again, Be the best “YOU` you can be:)

Let's start!

Frequently Asked Questions

What do we do at Rising Star Management?

We are a principal agency. We provide talent management and representation for principal actors, special skills, and 'real people' and submit them to casting directors for opportunities in feature films, TV series, commercials, voiceover, motion capture, and theatre productions. We represent Vancouver's top talent and submit them to casting directors for booking in local and international productions.

We love what we do! Every day provides us with new opportunities to make our talents’ dreams come true. With integrity, we advocate for our talents’ overall well-being and assist in their growth toward bigger, larger, and increasingly fulfilling roles. We view being a manager and an agent as a privilege. We're so grateful to work with our amazing talent and contribute to such a valuable industry.

Where are we located?
How can I submit?
What is a boutique agency?
Who can join your agency?

You can submit yourself (or another talent) by completing the intake form l, and then copying and pasting it into our website's submission form above, or by contacting us directly at: peterschroeder.rsm@gmail.com

A boutique agency focuses on personalized service and specialized talent representation in the entertainment industry. We represent seasoned and aspiring actors, social influencers, persons with special skills, neurodiversity, and physical disability, and ‘real people’.

Our offices are in Richmond and North Vancouver, BC.

We are a smaller agency that provides more personalized attention to a select roster of clients, focusing on building long-term, collaborative relationships rather than the high volume of clients found at larger firms. We offer focused representation and career guidance, often translating into dedicated support for actors to help them achieve their career goals.

Things to Do When the Industry is Slow:

Sign up for Casting Networks Inc., a well-known international breakdown Service.

Monitor Your Casting Workbook, Actors Access, and Casting Networks accounts for relevant breakdowns. Let your agent know when you want to be submitted, or submit yourself for unpaid roles , and CC your agent.

Monitor Cast It Talent, Vancouver Actors Guide, and e-Drive.

Action Points:**

Recently, I was asked: “Now that I am represented and not submitting myself for roles... what should I be doing to help my Acting career? Great question!!

You can take the initiative by continuing to submit yourself for unpaid roles and CC your agent, and by doing the following:

1 Update your headshot, slate shot, demo reel, resume, and measurements/size card regularly.

Update ALL your Profiles.

Check: peterschroederheadshots.com for help with media or another headshot photographer that will provide agent approved HEADSHOTS.

2 Follow these services and keep your ear out for jobs that interest you. Contact your agent to be submitted. Feel free to submit yourself for all unpaid jobs:

3 Acting training... Be Ready for Anything at an Audition. Every casting director looks for your previous bookings and training.

Great acting classes are held at Shoreline Studios https://www.shoreline-studios. com and VADA Studios

I recommend starting with classes in 1. A Casting workshop 2. Behind the camera 3. The Meisner approach.

...or you can hire an acting coach - Do a web search for your topic, ie, Accents etc.

Keep up with your special skills training.

4 Start self-promoting. Start a website, blog, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube account dedicated to your acting life, and learn how to use social media. Note: Always follow the production rules regarding posting media/photos. Photos of the set are typically not allowed to be posted anywhere.

5 Make a demo tape if you do not have one already.

6 Stay professional, you will see and work with the same people in this industry year in and year

out. Develop lasting relationships. Get to know casting directors and producers' names.

7 Work on your self-taping

8 Download Showfax script/sides, learn them, self-tape yourself, and contact me (agent) to ask me to submit you.

9 Go to FILM festivals and theatre productions to learn.

10 Start an IMDB account.

These are all good ways to begin to develop yourself as an actor. I hope you found something valuable here.

Thanks!

Warmly,

Peter Schroeder
